In the US, there were 123.8 million households with at least one operable television or monitor in 2022.
It is estimated that more than 90 percent of Mexican households have access to open TV.
It is one of the most used traditional media in the world.
Currently, we live in a completely digital world, where everything that happens in the various traditional media, becomes a viral click on social networks. This was demonstrated in the recent mistake of a sports journalist, who was greatly confused by mistakenly mentioning the name of the channel in which she works in the middle of the live program.
Throughout the world, television continues to have an impact on people’s lives. In the United States, and according to Nielsen data, during the 2022/2023 season, 123.8 million households had at least one television or operable monitor with the ability to transmit video via traditional antenna, cable box or satellite receiver or with a broadband connection.
In this sense, these data mean how this traditional medium continues to be part of people’s daily lives, where in Mexico it is positioned as the country with the largest universe of viewers in the entire Spanish-speaking world.
For its part, according to data from the Statista Research Department, television is the second telecommunications service with the highest adoption rate in Mexico, and it is estimated that more than 90 percent of Mexican households have access to open TV.
The case
The moment that was recorded in the previous broadcast of the UEFA Champions League semi-final match, in which Inter Milan and AC Milan faced each other, a sports journalist unleashed the comments of the internists and their colleagues, after making a mistake with the name of the channel you work for.
It was all from the British journalist and presenter Kate Abdo, who confused the name of the company she works for, which is CBS Sports, and mentioned her competition Fox Sports.
In the click that has gone viral on networks, you can see the British presenter when she was referring to the important commitment of being close to one of the most important matches of the king of sports, and she mentioned the chain responsible for broadcasting on alive.
Everything changed when the CBS journalist confused the channel’s name by mentioning another sports outlet.
“Speaking of which, there are other people who are not so blessed to be here tonight,” he began. “Your Fox Sports… Fox Sports? We’re on CBS!” she said.

The woman realized her mistake in the middle of the broadcast and froze, then turned away in embarrassment, while her colleagues, panelists, and former Premier League stars Micah Richards, Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher exploded with laughter.
Quickly, it was possible to see how the journalist tried to justify herself by explaining that it was a technical error because the teleprompter did not move fast enough for her to read her lines.
“They are going to fire me,” the journalist managed to say in the broadcast that was being watched by millions of viewers.
There are many times that the presenters go viral due to this type of error, which for many can be inexcusable, such as when they make the wrong brands for which they advertise.
An example of the latter is the host of Ventaneando, Pedro Solas, who in the middle of the live program confused the Hellmans brand, which had paid to be promoted during one of the show’s broadcasts, with McCormick.
