The double header that closes the 2021 WEC season in Bahrain is serving to the different manufacturers, teams and drivers that compete in the World Cup define their projects for 2022. Without going any further, Alpine has confirmed its continuity in the premier class with its LMP1 after the approval of the FIA and ACO. In this line, Jota Sport will also continue to be one of the most important assets in the LMP2 category next year. For its part, Kessel Racing has also announced its commitment to the LMGTE-Am class with the presence of a GTE, presumably from Ferrari.
JOTA Sport has confirmed its continuity in the WEC LMP2 class for the next campaign with a project that will keep the same ingredients as this year. This means that JOTA will operate two Oreca 07-Gibson. A logical step if one takes into account that JOTA Sport is being one of the great animators of the WEC silver category. In fact, JOTA’s # 28 Oreca has been on the LMP2 podium four times in five races and occupies the second position of the general. For its part, Oreca # 38 of the team has a victory and a total of three podiums and he is also immersed in the fight for the title.
Similarly, Kessel Racing will also return to the WEC in 2022 with an entry into the LMGTE-Am class., repeating this way in the Amateur category after his participation this year, not continued, with the colors of Car Guy Racing. It is foreseeable thatthe team bet on the Ferrari 488 GTE as the vehicle to use in this new project, although it is expected that Kessel Racing may have a 100% Japanese lineup in his World Cup project. The Swiss team also maintains the goal of have two vehicles in the GTE class of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) if the budget accompanies.
