An advertising specialist director
The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Dougal Wilson.
Until now, Wilson had directed commercials for brands like Apple, Ikea and the BBC, as well as the annual Christmas advertisement for the UK John Lewis department store.
He was also nominated by the DGA in the Outstanding Directing Achievement in Commercials category in 2020.
The film will reunite Studiocanal with Heyday Films, following their collaboration on the first two films in the “Paddington” franchise.
Studiocanal will directly distribute the film in the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Australia and New Zealand, and through partners in China and Japan.
Sony Pictures will distribute, while it will bring “Paddington in Peru” to the United States, Canada and Latin America.
The impact of the franchise on popular (especially British) culture could be clearly seen during Queen Elizabeth II’s jubilee in June 2022, when Paddington was seen having tea with the late Queen at the Castle of Windsor as part of a design commemorating the 70th anniversary of his accession to the throne.
With budgets estimated to be around $50 million, the two “Paddington” movies were more than profitable: “Paddington 2” (2018) grossed $227 million worldwide and the first “Paddington” (2015), $282 million.
