Movies based on video game franchises could see a renaissance in the coming years, as currently sonic the hedgehog 2 is exceeding expectations and is already the most successful, which would have motivated other studios to do their thing. One of the most important franchises is Minecraftand would have a movie starring Jason Momoa.
According to THR, actor Jason Momoa is finalizing negotiations with Warner Bros. to star in a minecraft live action movie, which would be directed by Jared Hess, the director of Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite. Mary Parent (Dune) will be one of the producers of the film, along with Roy Lee. Additionally, Jill Messick, who passed away in 2018, will be credited posthumously as producer, so we can assure you that the Minecraft movie has been working for at least four years.

Minecraft debuted in 2011 and since then it has become one of the most important video game licenses in the industry, with a huge fan base of all ages. Although not many details were given, everything seems to indicate that the film will be with flesh and blood actors and not animated, as we would have thought due to its characteristic visual style with Voxels.
In the event that Jason Momoa agrees to star in the film, it will be a couple of years before we see it in theaters. Meanwhile, Jason Momoa and Warner Bros. are working on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which has a scheduled release by March 2023.
