The second film of the King of the Seven Seas is underway, and James Wan reveals a great inspiration for the story of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
More than 12 months separate us from the premiere of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a film of which its director, James Wan, has revealed one of the films that will be a source of inspiration for the second part.

Interviewed by Total Film magazine, Wan stated that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be influenced by the 1965 movie Planet of the Vampires.
“Aquaman 2 is very inspired by Planet of the Vampires … You can take the child out of the horror, but you can never remove the horror from the child“
Planet of the Vampires is a film directed by the Italian filmmaker Mario Bava, in which two ships land on an unexplored planet, where terror arises when the inhabitants of said planet seize the bodies of the dead crew members, who begin to murder to the survivors.
This movie was produced on a low budget, but has been an inspiration to filmmakers like Ridley Scott, who was commissioned to make the Alien movies, and now Aquaman 2.
Horror is coming to Aquaman 2
James Wan, famous for making horror films such as Saw, The Night of the Demon and The Conjuring, was delighted to incorporate elements of horror into Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
“The first movie had a touch of my horror sensibilities, as far as the Trench sequence goes, I’d say there’ll be a little bit of that in the next … It’s something that’s a huge part of who I am, and it comes naturally in this one. kind of movies”.
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will feature a cast led by Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman; Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Vulko.
Also returning are Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren as Nereus; Yahya Abdul – Mateen II as Black Manta; Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.
The premiere of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 16, 2022, while the first film is now available in home video formats, as well as on some of the most popular digital platforms.
