Today, May 4, two groups of fans are celebrating. On the one hand, we have the fervent fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who starting this Thursday will be able to enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters in Latin America. On the other hand, it is also Star Wars Day; a sacred box in the calendar of the innumerable lovers of the film franchise created by George Lucas more than 45 years ago. And by virtue of this, the director and screenwriter James Gunn did not miss the opportunity to simultaneously pay homage to both intellectual properties, based on an anecdote about how Star Wars inspired him to bring his version of Guardians of the Galaxy to the big screen.
Through Twitterthe also co-president of DC Studios recalled that more than a decade ago, when he presented his proposal to adapt the comics of the Guardians of the Galaxycarried with him the desire to offer the public an experience similar to the one he lived when, being just a child, he saw Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) for the first time in the cinema.
“11 years ago I had a meeting with Marvel Studios about the possibility of making a movie of Guardians of the Galaxy. I remember he would come home and think that he didn’t want to make a movie like Star Warsbut a film that made people feel what Star Wars made me feel as a childJames Gunn wrote. “Quirky characters, extraordinary places, a space opera with a touch of heart-filled magic.”
And I add:
“Thank you, star Waryes, for inspiring me. And how appropriate that the third part of our trilogy [de Guardianes de la Galaxia] opens in theaters around the world tonight on May 4th.”

In response to Gunn’s tweet, the official Star Wars account “toasted” with the director so that it is always possible to find the magic that supports the productions of Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm.
“From our galaxy to yours, we love trilogies,” read the reply. “We toast to always find that touch of magic.”
Additionally, flagship graphics and visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic acknowledged in response to the post that it has been “very lucky” in having been able to collaborate in both multi-million dollar sagas.

Antonio G. Spindola I have very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
