Avatar: The Way of the Water is the sequel to the mammoth Avatar. Due to this, and due to the numerous press conferences for marketing that are taking place, we have been able to see how James Cameron Talks Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorathe open world title based on the world created by the director of films like Titanic or Aliens, and which promises to incorporate the particular style of video game development with this amazing universe.
In an interview granted to the portal IGN, Cameron has explained that “he is very excited” for Frontiers of Pandora. “We’re very excited about what Ubisoft is doing with their game,” he explains, clarifying that he’s leaving a lot of room for the studio when it comes to developing the title. “I don’t tell them what to do, they know their world, their business and their market.”

This does not mean that Ubisoft can do literally what they want with this IP, but that Cameron, despite giving them a lot of freedom, supervises that no mistakes are made in the lore and setting of the world of Avatar. “We watch carefully that they don’t do anything that isn’t canon in terms of Na’vi culture, what the RDA is doing on Pandora and that sort of thing.”
Regarding the possibility that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora could have sequels, James Cameron does not seem to be entirely sure about it, at least regarding the rate at which he himself hopes to release sequels in film format, which is every three years: “Ubisoft probably has to stay a little behind on that pace, I haven’t exactly delved into what the deal is in that regard. But what we are looking for is to create a persistent and visitable world with a certain cadence of sequels«.
