25 years have passed since the premiere of titanic, and the fans of the film continue not to forgive the death of Jack Dawson. During these decades, debates and all kinds of doubts have been raised about the possibility that the character lived. And although James Cameron denied it for a long time, today it is a reality: Jack may have survived the sinking of the Titanic.
Last December, Cameron conducted a scientific study to prove that the end of titanic it made sense and that, as seen in the movie, only Rose could survive. However, the fans continued to deny her and were not satisfied. to please them, the filmmaker hired two people similar in height and weight to Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio who could recreate the moment.
In the first test, the theory that both fit in the table is addressed. While that is true, we must consider that both are now submerged in dangerous levels of freezing water. Before long, the bodies of both would end up under water.
In the second test, Cameron again accommodated both characters on the table. He positioned them in such a way that their upper halves (including vital organs) were out of the water. The chances of survival increase, but doubts arise as to resistance. For the test, the contracted specialists rested well and therefore were able to stay in position for a long time. But Jack and Rose were exhausted, they had been running for hours, avoiding drowning, fighting and doing everything to survive. Most likely both would have died.
For the final test, the specialists performed the same activities as Jack and Rose. They ran, simulated fights, drowning and being on board the titanic in full collapse. They ended up as tired as the protagonists of the film. But there was a big difference, in this case, “Rose” gave her life jacket to “Jack”. Which it was the result?
“He’s stabilized. He got to a place where, if we projected it, he could have held out until the lifeboat came. Jack could have lived, but there are a lot of variables around. His thought process was, ‘I’m not going to do anything to put her in danger,’ and that’s 100 percent of the character,” Cameron commented (via Variety).
In conclusion: Jack was able to survive the sinking of the Titanic. But Rose never gave her her life jacket. And if we remember the temperament of the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio, perhaps he would not have wanted to risk his beloved. The aforementioned tests can be seen in the special of National Geographic “Titanic: 25 Years Later With James Cameron”which will premiere in the United States on February 5.
If you want to cry again with the tragic death, remember that titanic will be re-released in theaters in Mexico (in restored 4K 3D format) starting next February 9. Will they go see her?
Juan Jose Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the theater up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movie.
