Thanks to fan groups we can see preservation work on video games that companies do not do, such as the recent PC ports made thanks to the work of fan groups that are dedicated to decompiling games. One of the most recent is the PC port for Jak and Daxter 1which originally came to PS One.
Jax and Daxter is a game of Playstation 1 of the genre of platforms and action in the third person, which already has a PC port that runs natively on this platform. According to the team that did this great job, Jak II and Jak & Daxter 3 are the next games to receive this treatment.

The PC port for Jak and Daxter 1 is available via Github, and in order to play it all you have to do is download the package from the page. Once downloaded, extract the Jak and Daxter rom into Extractor.exe and voila, you can play this game natively on PC thanks to a fan-made port.
It is worth mentioning that the PC port of Jak and Daxter 1 only works if your CPU has AVX support, otherwise the extractor.exe will just open and close immediately, doing nothing.
This is just the latest work by a group of fans to bring a classic game to PC with a native port, but a couple of months ago we introduced the PC port for Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is also free to download. .
