Confirmed! Since the development of Superman: Legacy With James Gunn on board as a writer, it was also reported that there was a high chance that the DC Studios co-chairman would ultimately opt to sit in the director’s chair. And now, it is a reality.
This was announced by James Gunn through his official Twitter account:
I lost my Dad almost three years ago. He was my best friend. He didn’t understand me as a kid, but he supported my love of comics and my love of film and I wouldn’t be making this movie now without him.

“I mean, it’s hard because there are things I can talk about and things I can’t,” King said. “I mean, James Gunn is a super nerd and he’s super creative, right? He is the writer and director of the film Superman, and he’s kind of the creative force behind it all. Him and Peter Safran. And he approached me and a bunch of fantastic, amazing writers…whose names he’s released, to work on making these movies and TV shows the best they can be.”
