The Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, and the head of the US Executive Power, Joe Biden, met this Monday, November 14, in Bali, Indonesia.
The meeting is one of the most anticipated in years between the top leaders of both countries, since the relationship between the major powers of the globe is at its lowest point in several issues, from international trade to the point of view on Taiwan.
The meeting, which is the first face-to-face meeting since Biden became president of the United States, took place prior to the start of the Group of 20 (G-20) summit in Balia meeting crossed by the tension generated by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In the long-awaited photo shaking hands, they are seen relaxing in a ballroom at the luxurious Mulia Hotel in Bali’s Nusa Dua Bay.
“It’s great to see you,” the US president told Xi. trying to show that the communication between the two on a personal level has not been affected.
“As leaders of our two nations, we share a responsibility, in my opinion, to show that China and the United States can handle their differencesprevent competition from turning into conflict, and find ways to work together on pressing global issues and issues that require cooperation,” Biden said at the post conference.
Biden also spoke of climate change and food insecurity as the problems that the planet expects the two powers to address as soon as possible.

Xi to Biden: “We are not meeting global expectations”
In response to Biden, Xi said that the relationship between the two countries is not meeting global expectations.
“We must chart a correct course for the relationship between China and the US. We need to find the course so that the bilateral relationship advances, elevate the relationship”, Xi said.
According to the international media, it is expected that the main topics of discussion will be the nuclear claims of Taiwan, Ukraine and North Korea, topics that will also be a matter of opinion in the G-20, which will not have the presence of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
Neither will Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Marcelo Ebrard traveled) nor Jair Bolsonaro.
The only representative from Latin America is the Argentine Alberto Fernández, who arrived from Paris, where he met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
Russia is represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the first G-20 meeting since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February.
Biden and Xi Jinping have spoken five times since the Democrat was in the White House, but they were always video calls.
The last time they had seen each other in person was years ago, when Barack Obama was president and Biden was vice president.
