Longtime Nintendo fans probably remember Wii Sports fondly. The title made great use of the Wii’s novel motion controls, and offered gamers a way to have fun solo or in multiplayer without having to spend additional money on console games.
For this reason, many fans were happy when it became known that he was going to present himself. Nintendo Switch Sports, a spiritual successor to the Wii classic. So far, the reception for Nintendo Switch Sports has been relatively good, but there is an unexpected hiccup that has left some players disappointed.
While most of the Wii’s appeal came from the motion controls and the unique way they could be used to control avatars in the game, the Switch it is loved for its portability and its ability to play anywhere, regardless of whether the player has access to a television or not.
So it may be surprising (and disappointing) to learn that the mode local multiplayer from Nintendo Switch Sports cannot be played in tabletop mode.
Although players can enjoy single player in tabletop mode, the same is not true for local multiplayer. Players must first connect the Switch to the dock in order to play.
Trying to get into mode and then undocking the Switch doesn’t work either, as it produces a notification that it needs to be docked. To make matters worse, this means that local multiplayer is completely incompatible with the Switch Lite, as it doesn’t have a docking feature and isn’t meant to connect directly to a TV or monitor.
To be fair, trying to participate in a multiplayer game of Nintendo Switch Sports while looking at the small screen of the Nintendo Switch would probably be quite difficult. While sitting around the device allows for multiplayer, Nintendo Switch Sports is a more active game, and being glued to the screen doesn’t work well, especially with fast-paced games like tennis.
Still, some fans are understandably upset by this discovery, as it goes against the portable nature of the Switch, which is why it’s so loved.
