Last year around this time was a normal day in September until Xbox and Bethesda decided to shake up the gaming industry for good. In a surprising announcement, Xbox revealed that it had acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. In this way, developers like Bethesda, id Software, Arkane and Tango Gameworks would come under the umbrella of Xbox Game Studios, and the rest is history.
A year later, the gigantic $ 7.5 billion deal it has been approved in its entirety. Tons of company games have made their way to Xbox Game Pass, we’ve found that certain future titles will be exclusive, and new IPs like Indiana Jones have been announced. It has been a roller coaster that has paved the way for a very bright future between Xbox and Bethesda.
We already have a date for the second technical test of Halo Infinite
One year since Xbox and Bethesda joined forces
There are a ton of great games on the horizon, including Xbox exclusives like Redfall and, of course, Starfield. MachineGames is working on the aforementioned Indiana Jones game, although it is still under development. The future will no doubt also see the return of other exceptional franchises like Wolfenstein and DOOM. We are also waiting for Deathloop’s temporary exclusivity agreement with PlayStation to end and see its inevitable inclusion on Xbox Game Pass.
This is the new and unusual Halo crossover
While we still have many questions about the acquisition, there is no question that it has paved an exciting future for Xbox fans, and while we have not yet seen the full benefits of the Xbox and Bethesda union, there is a ridiculous amount of things to look forward to.
