Microsoft Flight Simulator of 2020 has focused mainly on the simulation of commercial flights. However, Asobo Team, the developers, have experimented a bit with the limitations this implies. Some time ago we saw content that introduced a racing mode, and recently it was given a military focus with the DLC of Top Gun Maverick. Thus, we questioned the boss of this game on the possibility of seeing some kind of expansion with a focus on combat.
We recently had the opportunity to speak with Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator at Microsoft, about the latest simulator content. Whereas this DLC introduces the Super Hornet, and gives greater weight to the F-18, aircraft models with a focus on combat, We asked Neumann if there is a possibility in the future to see content dedicated to this section.or even a Microsoft Combat Simulator.
“We can not. When we make an airplane, we can only do it if we have the license, and many of the commercial aircraft manufacturers are very sensitive to any danger to the airplanes. We cannot have weapons, because people could take a picture of a plane with a rocket flying towards a city.
So it’s a no, no, no, no. If we want to have a combat system, it has to be outside of regular Flight Sim. Flight Sim is about civil aviation, and we’ve made a lot of military planes, we’ve made 20 warplanes, and we’ve taken the weapons off them, and a lot of people didn’t like it. Sorry, but they can’t be, it’s the rules.
Many people ask us for Microsoft Combat Simulator, maybe, we still don’t say it, we have a lot of work. We want to do a lot, but it has to be of quality. There is already enough mediocre software.
It’s a real shame that Microsoft Flight Simulator will not offer combat content in the future, and that at the moment there are no plans for a game focused on this section. Nevertheless, Neumann is aware of the wishes of the fansand it is likely that something similar is in the works for the future right now.
The DLC of Top Gun Maverick in Microsoft Flight Simulator is already available right now. In related topics, here you can check our gameplay of this content. Similarly, Neumann tells us about the difficulties of creating this content.
