A few weeks ago, we reported that the Harry Potter author, who has faced a lot of controversy over her transphobic comments, has a new podcast in which she will discuss various topics “with her critics and supporters.” Now that the first few episodes of the podcast have officially dropped, new statements from JK Rowling about her legacy are emerging amid the extensive media coverage that has arisen from her social media posts.
In The Witch Trials of JK Rowling, the writer was blunt in giving her opinion on the current public perception of her person. She assured that it is not something that she constantly thinks about.
“I don’t walk around my house thinking about my legacy. What a presumptuous way to live life is to walk around thinking, ‘What will my legacy be?’” she said. “I don’t care, I’ll be dead. I care about now. I care about the living”.

Also, in another episode of the show, Rowling argues that a lot of what’s going on around her comments is because she’s taking a one-sided stance on the matter. In her words:
“There is a great attraction, and I try to show it in the books of Potter, in black and white thinking. It is the easiest place and, in many ways, the safest. If you take an ‘all or nothing’ stance on anything, you will certainly find comrades, you will easily find a community: ‘I have sworn allegiance to this simple idea.’”
And she adds that, for her, the important thing when communicating an idea is to be certain and certain of what is being said. Question yourself before acting, then. This is what she said about it:
“What I tried to say in the books of Potter, and what I myself feel deeply, is that we should distrust ourselves more when we are sure. And we should question ourselves more when we get an adrenaline rush from doing or saying something.”
Since she launched her controversial tweets in 2020, the author’s thoughts have been at the center of a great debate on social networks. His publication made such an echo that the subject was also addressed by the director of the video game Hogwarts Legacybased on the creations of the also businesswoman.
The first two episodes of The Witch Trials of JK Rowling are already available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other audio platforms.
