Thanks to their complex action sequences, certain “powers,” and character traits, many viewers have compared the movies to Avatar with Marvel projects. Although the main story of the saga focuses on Jake Sully, his wife Neytiri, and the efforts they make to protect their family from the “sky people”, both films in the saga have shown us brutal confrontations that no ordinary human could survive. What does James Cameron, its director, think of the comparisons of Avatar with Marvel?
In interview for B TV, the Canadian filmmaker spoke about those points that differentiate both franchises. One of them is that the story remains continuous throughout all the films.
“It’s not like a superhero story where there’s a new villain with every movie. The same guy, right? The same adversary throughout all of this. But how it evolves is also very interesting once we add adversaries as we go along. Additional adversaries and additional allies.”
These statements coincide with some words that Cameron commented a few weeks ago. According to him, in the next installment of Avatar we will meet a tribe of fire youit is also known that the main characters will not exactly have a good relationship with its inhabitants. Although it is not clear what role they will play in the film, it is practically confirmed that Quaritch (Stephen Lang) will continue as the main antagonist of the franchise. How will they make each movie feel different if the Na’vi have to face the same threat?
For better or worse, this isn’t the first time Cameron has expressed his distaste for superhero movies. Previously, he mentioned that he is not a fan of what has been done with these stories in recent years. He described them as repetitive and too macho.
Whether you agree or not, the truth is that Avatar Y Avatar: The Path of Water They have shown us many aspects that, obviously, separate the work of James Cameron from the productions of Marvel or DC. In just two movies, Pandora’s world has expanded remarkably, plus we’ve seen some good character development from her. Unfortunately, many superhero movies can’t boast the same, and end up wasting villains with tremendous potential.
If you want to see it for the first time, or enter the world of Pandora again, Avatar: The Path of Water It continues to be available in theaters throughout Mexico.
Juan Jose Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the theater up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movie.
