Iron Lynx has closed with a stroke the planning of its two major projects for this 2022. The Italian squad has first defined the drivers that will compete in the two Ferrari 488 GTEs with which it will compete in the WEC LMGTE-Am class and in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). In both cases, the team will have one vehicle under the banner of Iron Lynx and another under the tutelage of the associated project Iron Dameswith a 100% female lineup. This same scheme is also transferred to the GT3 effort of the training.
The Iron Lynx team will compete with two Ferrari 488 GT3 in the Pro class of the Endurance Cup of the GTWC Europe, a category in which he defends the title after the wound won in 2021 by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Côme Ledogar and Nicklas Nielsen with the #51 Ferrari. A trio that will surely not compete together this year, since Côme Ledogar has changed one of the Ferrari reference teams for one of the squads linked to Porsche and will compete with one of the Dynamic Motorsport GT3.
What’s more, Callum Ilott has also left the team to compete in IndyCarso Iron Lynx will have to adjust the lineup of its two cars in the Pro class. For this reason, the team has not yet announced its driver line-upalthough the deadlines are very short and a confirmation is expected soon when the official GT World Challenge Europe test takes place in Paul Ricard at the beginning of March. By then the squad wants to have fully defined the drivers of its two cars.
The project that is closed and with all the ingredients defined is that of Iron Dames. In 2021 the Iron Dames Ferrari 488 GT3 competed in two of the five rounds of the Endurance Cup, at Paul Ricard and Barcelona. For this year, the GT3 with a 100% female line-up will be in each and every one of the tests of the Copa de Resistencia, so it will also play the 24 Hours of Spa. In fact, the team will compete under its own licensealthough it is clear that the synergies with Iron Lynx will be the same.
The drivers designated for this project are the same ones who will compete in the WEC and in the ELMS, thus drawing a really busy year for the three. They are Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting and Sarah Bobby.. The Iron Dames GT3 will be entered in the new Gold Cup that debuts this season. Sarah Bovy has already contested the two Endurance Cup events that the team carried out in 2021, while Michele Gatting was only present in Barcelona. For its part, Rahel Frey prepares for her first Endurance Cup appearance since 2014when he was still an Audi driver.
