The extensive qualifying session of the 24 Hours of Spa has eaten part of the ‘night’ and the prominence of a night practice session that has had very little crumb. Above all, if you take into account that the Iron Lynx Ferraris have continued with the dominant line seen a few minutes earlier during the ‘qualy’. In fact, Miguel Molina’s Ferrari #51 has finished with the fastest time of this free practice session after signing the Catalan a time of 2:18.718. Kelvin Van der Linde’s Audi #32 finished at 58 thousandths.
The Ferrari #51 closed the classification less than two tenths from its brother GT3, the #71. Short distance that highlights the equality between the two Iron Lynx line-ups, a feeling that has even increased with the closed night of the Ardennes being the protagonist in the last session of the day. In fact, Miguel Molina has set the standard with a 2:18.718 which has served to narrowly outperform the Audi #32 of Team WRT. For its part, the Audi #66 of Attempto Racing was third in the hands of Ricardo Feller.
The night free practices have moved in the peculiar dance of dominance of Ferrari and ‘hatching’ of the Audi GT3. In fact, Christopher Mies’s Audi #25 slipped into fifth position after going a bit unnoticed in the previous sessions. And he did it after staying exactly one tenth behind the #71 Ferrari, fourth this time thanks to the efforts of Davide Rigon. You have to go down to seventh place to find the best GT3 entered in the Gold Cupbeing in this case the Mercedes #5 of HRT thanks to the best lap of Arjun Maini.
Pro-Am Cup honors have gone to Herbert Motorsport’s #24 Porschewhile HRT’s #777 Mercedes was the fastest GT3 in the Silver Cup, even if on this occasion the car competing under the banner of Al Manar Racing could not finish in the top ten of this practice session. A ‘top 10’ in which the Porsche #24 slipped by the hair. For its part, the BMW #35 of Walkenhorst Motorsport has completed this session as the best car in the Bronze Cup.
In Spanish key and beyond the leadership of Miguel Molina, the night session has not allowed the usual brilliance of ours. AAlbert Costa has driven the #63 Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini to 16th place. You have to go back outside the ‘top 30’ to find the next GT3 with a Spanish presence, since Dani Juncadella’s Mercedes #88 could not get past 31st place. Two positions behind has finished the Aston Martin #23 by Alex Riberas, while Isaac Tutumlu’s #27 Lamborghini is back in action after his crash in Q3 and has finished 45th.
