The models Apple iPhone 15 Pro they will have one Massive upgrade to your wired transfer speeds with the move to USB-Caccording to prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo doesn’t think that benefit will trickle down to regular 2023 iPhones and predicts that the 15 and 15 Plus models will also swap USB-C ports but, like the 2022 10th-gen iPad, will have the same USB 2.0 speeds they had. with Lighting.
This “prediction” by the analyst was published in a tweet thread on Wednesday, November 16. Importantly, Kuo gets the information from him through supply chain sources.
He added that the models “15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will support at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3″. If that’s true, it would mean they could transfer data at speeds of up to 40 Gbps, ideal for content creators or those who need to process a lot of photos and videos.

I predict that 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max will support at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. This spec upgrade means the wired transfer and video output user experience will significantly improve.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) November 17, 2022
The iPhone, destined for USB-C
Kuo has been saying for some time that the iPhone 15 will have USB-C. In May, he speculated that the port change “could improve iPhone transfer and charging speeds,” but now it appears he has more details on that and how Apple will use it to target its devices.
If Cupertino’s update transfer speeds for their upcoming pro models but not for regular ones, it won’t necessarily come as a surprise. This year, the iPhone 14 Pro received a new chip, while cheaper models stuck with last year’s internal hardware.
You have to remember that the European Union mandated that new phones must use USB-C if they have a charging portthough the requirement won’t go into effect until fall 2024.
