It has been a long time since Apple updated its figures for developers to reflect the adoption rate of the latest major version of iOS available. The last update was in June 2020, that is, before the release of iOS 14 in September.
This week, the Cupertino group indicated that as of December 15, the adoption rate of iOS 14 reached 72% on all iPhones that connect to the App Store. Of the iPhones introduced in the past four years, 81% of them work with iOS 14.
Out of all active iPhones, iOS 13 is at the maneuver for 18%, while it is an older version for 10%. For iPhones less than four years old, it’s iOS 13 for 17% and an earlier version for 2%.
Apple offers the same numbers for the iPad and iPadOS. Notably, iPadOS 14 concerns 61% of active iPads, and with an adoption rate that rises to 75% for those introduced in the past four years.
