Technology companies continue to bet on providing better experiences to each of their users. That is why brands like Apple have recently announced that the Apple Watch will offer features that focus on 17 areas of health and fitness, from heart health to sleep, women’s health, mobility and more.
According to data published in his annual report The Americas is Apple’s largest regional market, with sales net income of US$51.5 billion in the first quarter of the company’s fiscal year 2022.
Likewise, the report presented by the technology company indicates that Europe and China are two other important markets for Apple, with revenues above 25 billion dollars.
The company founded by Steve Jobs also highlights that it opted to invest in R&D throughout the study period, as evidenced by the fact that research and development spending doubled in the last five years. Thus, 2021 ended with an investment in R&D close to 22,000 million US dollars.
Apple and its new function
This Wednesday Apple released a report outlining a two-pronged strategy in the digital health markets, courting consumers with health and fitness traits on the one hand and engaging with traditional health care systems on the other.
The presentation led by Apple chief operating officer Jeff Williams showed the report that it is the first time that Apple has offered a comprehensive view of its approach to healthcare markets in the eight years since it began launching health features, as a storage system for medical records on iPhones. Como has also begun partnering with institutions such as the Stanford University School of Medicine to conduct large-scale formal medical studies.
Much of the work has focused on the Apple Watch, a device that Williams played a key role in bringing it to market and contains sensors for heart health and other functions.
In the report, Apple said its focus for consumers is to provide a secure place for users to store their medical information. and health on iPhones while using tools like Apple Watch to warn and push users toward better health.
It is worth mentioning that this device can alert people to heart irregularities and detect when a person suffers a hard fall to alert an emergency contact, among other functions.
As a new feature, the Tim Cook-led company mentioned that its system can now store 150 different types of health data. that are encrypted so that only users, not Apple, can access them.
The company also outlined the work it is doing with medical researchers to allow them to use Apple devices to conduct studies, as well as allowing patients to share and discuss the data collected by the devices so they can better monitor their health between doctor visits.
In that same order, Williams wrote in the report that Apple intends to further develop health-related functions for both users and the health industry.
“Our vision for the future is to continue creating science-based technology that gives people even more information and acts as a smart gatekeeper for their health, so they are no longer passengers on their own health journey,” Williams said in the text.
Apple is not the only company that has focused on helping its users with health, as companies like Samsung also have their platform focused on Health so that its users can store all health data.
With these functions, it is demonstrated how companies are increasingly thinking more about their users and about each of the experiences that can help them in the future.
