Events such as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia have caused fuel and corn prices to skyrocket as well.
Inflation rates have affected countries such as Brazil, Russia, the United States and Mexico above all in 2022.
When we talk about inflation, we can understand that it is a phenomenon that hits the economy of a country, this means that, suddenly, the prices of a large part of the goods and services of said location increase in its stores, for an extended period of time. Therefore, marking a correct distribution of income for users is chaotic, since a measure that used to be standard is no longer the same and becomes distorted, making it difficult to predict.
Likewise, since nothing is separate from anything, conflicts such as the war between Ukraine and Russia, and of course the Covid-19 pandemic, have caused several elements such as the fuel industry or the price of corn and wheat to increase drastically. This shows that no aspect of this global trade design is isolated and everything has an impact. We could think, for example, of Uber drivers in the United States, since many are beginning to stop working due to the increase in gas and gasoline prices.
On the other hand, as I have already mentioned, corn and wheat, the raw materials for tortillas and the food most consumed by Mexicans, have not stopped rising since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out. According to data from prophet, the consumption of tortillas per capita in Mexico is 75 kilos per year (between 7 and 10 tortillas per day). In the US, consumption is 10 kilos per year per person.
In fact, several of these countries have already been affected by these increases in food and fuel prices, such as Brazil, France, Germany, the United States, Mexico and, of course, both Russia and Ukraine. This graph made by Merca2.0 shows how, from December 2020 to February 2022, some countries have been affected by this phenomenon:

Without a doubt, this has been a problem that has increased over the months, due to the war. Taking into account the multiple sanctions to the Russian government, surely they will not stop and prices of some elements will continue to skyrocket until this is solved. For now, the recovery after the ravages of the pandemic seems to be in process.
