65 years ago, in April 1957, Pedro Infante, one of the greatest legends in the history of Mexican cinema, lost his life. Throughout his 61 films, the actor fell in love with thousands of Mexicans, who enjoyed his charm by interpreting each of his characters. Since his death, numerous projects have emerged that seek to honor his memory. But the definitive film, the one that will portray Pedro Infante as we have never seen him before, is about to become a reality.
In interview for The universal, Hugo Palacios, director of the Pedro Infante brand, spoke about the projects that are underway to honor. Currently, a series entitled His name was Pedro Infante., produced by ViX and starring Mario Morán. But there is also a book coming, and the aforementioned movie. Here the details:
“It is an international film project that covers the life of Pedro Infante and tells us from another point of view, the impact he had on film and music, but also as an icon of culture; Right now we are in a rapprochement with three production houses, but we still have nothing closed, ”he mentioned.
Pedro Infante made his debut on the big screen at the end of the 1930s. From his first films, he drew the attention of many producers and viewers due to the naturalness with which he acted and the identification that his characters generated in the audience. Success accompanied him in each of his films, and he became one of the most acclaimed Mexican actors of those times.
Won a silver bear at the 1961 Berlin International Film Festival, all for his performance in the film tizoc. But the success was also present in her career as a singer. She recorded approximately 314 ranchera songs. With such a career, it is obvious that a film about his life would allow us to portray little-known aspects. To complement the series and the next film, a book is in the works.
“There is a lot to tell about Pedro that television cannot cover. But a book would give us the opportunity to tell his story from different perspectives. We are also already in negotiations with writers and publishers to bring people new El Ídolo products,” added Palacios.
In case the film has the green light, which actor do you think has the talent and poise to bring Pedro Infante to life in his biopic?
Juan Jose Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the theater up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movie.
