In Mexico, it registers 36.7 million active users in January 2023.
Instagram’s main audience is people between the ages of 18 and 34.
Meta platforms are always constantly updated, especially to take care of the good experience that users can register on them. This is the case of Instagram, which announced a new feature designed to protect its users from unsolicited explicit photos.
Instagram has been one of the most used social networks since its arrival and this is reflected according to data from Insider Intelligence, the number of monthly active users of Instagram predicted for the year 2023 is approximately 1,336 million. According to the source, this value represents an increase of about 60 million compared to the estimated users for 2022.
Likewise, it is recorded that the most used social networks in Mexico are Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat and LinkedIn. Instagram is a social network that greatly facilitates company sales and is the second largest social network in Mexico, registering 36.7 million active users in January 2023.
What’s new on Instagram
Recently, Instagram, whose parent company is Meta, announced a new feature designed to protect its users from unsolicited explicit photos.
According to the platform, this measure is intended to ensure a safer and more positive experience for all users, especially minors.
It was reported that this option will be added soon while the trial periods end, to prevent abusers from harassing other accounts with unwanted messages, especially sexual photos that endanger the privacy and integrity of others in these digital spaces.
The Meta platform maintained that this new function will require a prior request to obtain permission to share any type of content with users who already live in it.
For all of this, the recipient will have the opportunity to accept or reject the request before receiving any unsolicited explicit photos, in addition to knowing who is behind that message.
Meta also confirmed that: “invitations can only be sent when the message is in text, so that people cannot send photos, videos or voice messages, or make calls, until the recipient has accepted the invitation to chat.”
User safety is a job that many social networks have been applying, especially when it comes to young people, adolescents and children who are on these social networks.
An example is Meta, which has launched some tools on its sites such as Facebook and WhatsApp, such as the inclusion of Security Warnings when “adults who have shown potentially suspicious behavior send messages to teenagers.”
Likewise, other platforms have followed the same path to further avoid harassment figures through social networks, a channel that is used globally by everyone.
