Call of Duty fans have heard plenty of rumors surrounding the 2022 title, with many getting excited about the continuation of 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot. Now, Infinity Ward appears to have added fuel to the fire, removing its images from social media. social as a way to get the attention of Call of Duty fans.
If players go to the official Twitter account of Infinity Ward, they will find that the developer’s profile photo and banner image have been removed. Both have been replaced by images that are almost entirely black, although some small brown spots can be found on each of them.
These can be seen on the right hand side of your profile picture and more prominently on your banner image. It’s unknown what they’re pointing to, though the black images may fill in over time, revealing in-game artwork.
The decision to darken the profile picture and banner seems like a clear nod to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. Captain Price’s catchphrase “Bravo Six, going dark” was not only heavily used in the marketing of the first game, appearing in the reveal trailer, but also became an internet meme. With the “darkness” of Infinity Wardit can be assumed that the reveal of the next Modern Warfare game is imminent.
Although this is just speculation, it does coincide with some major leaks about the game. Not only has it been rumored that Call of Duty 2022 will be revealed before the Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard dates, but a recent leak reported that the first big teaser for Call of Duty 2022 would be released on April 30, just a week from now.
From a marketing point of view, it is not known what will happen a week before the first official teaser. As for the full reveal, it has been said that it will arrive in early May.
