Indiana Jones is a video game saga, with titles since 1989 and currently has a total of 12 games for Xbox 360, PS3, NDS, PSP, Wii, PS2, Xbox, Nintendo 64 and PC.
According to data from Mordor Intelligence, the value of the worldwide video game market has increased significantly over the past decade and is set to grow further in the coming years, surpassing the $200 billion mark by 2023.
Likewise, the statistics platform points out that most of the revenue in this gaming market is generated by mobile games, while console games account for almost a third of the revenue generated worldwide. A similar picture is painted in the United States, where mobile games made up the largest share of video game revenue by category.
Indiana Jones will be exclusive to Xbox and PC
Microsoft is declaring before the Federal Trade Commission, where the Indiana Jones video game of which very little is known appeared in the crosshairs.
Bethesda’s head of global publishing Pete Hines confirmed that his game will be exclusive to Xbox and PC, which will be available from minute one on the Xbox Game Pass platform.
The title was revealed in 2021, months before Microsoft made the decision to pay more than $7 million for ZeniMax Media. The title is made by Machinegames, who also created ‘Wolfenstein’ and will carry the Lucasfilm label as part of the company’s strategy.
In this sense, it was revealed that Disney had a contract with Bethesda for the video game to be released on other platforms, where PlayStation enters, however, after the sale it was possible to modify the agreement so that Xbox had it exclusively.
When Bethesda was asked about his reasons for making the exclusive launch for this console, Hines explained that it was the best thing to eliminate risks and launch them on Game Pass.
“In my opinion, the main one is what I said about reducing risk and trying to get to a degree of certainty. You are dealing with a licensor who will have a lot of feedback on what you are doing, it will add a lot of time to your schedule.”
Other games that ended up being exclusive to Xbox were ‘Starfield’ and ‘Redfall’, which were also considered for PS at first, but ended up not coming to fruition.
