The iconic Star Wars characters, known for their epic battles and tense moments, have also had time to relax with a good beer. Although many fans may not remember seeing Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker or even Emperor Palpatine enjoy a drink during the original saga films.
However, in Chile, viewers who watched open television in 2003 and 2004 witnessed a peculiar shape advertising during the broadcast of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Instead of interrupting the film with conventional advertisements, an ingenious montage was made that inserted Cristal beer advertisements in the middle of the scenes, giving the impression that they were part of the film.

The Force is with Cerveza Cristal: A unique advertising campaign
The commercials, part of a series called “The Force is with Crystal Beer,” featured characters such as Emperor Palpatine and Luke Skywalker enjoying a beer at unexpected moments within the Star Wars plot. Although these scenes were fictitious, the originality and humor of the campaign captured the attention of the Chilean public and they received praise for their creativity.
The CCU (Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas), responsible for the Cristal brand, found so much success with this strategy that they decided to replicate it in other films, such as American Beauty and Gladiator, obtaining recognition in the form of awards and leaving a lasting mark in the memory of the Chilean spectators.
Without a doubt, a unique and memorable way to combine two elements so loved by the public: Star Wars and beer.
