The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS). They required employers to recognize the COVID Permit as temporary disability for workers registered with the Institute who present respiratory symptoms.
314 thousand 789 permits have been granted
The Permit has legal and administrative effects comparable to a temporary incapacity. When processing it by the workers, it is possible to break chains of contagion of COVID-19 in the workplace.
From January 10 to the cutoff of February 3 at 08:30 a.m., 314,789 permits have been granted. This can be requested through the IMSS Digital application and the official Social Security website http://www.imss.gob.mx/covid-19/permiso.
Despite the progress, there are workplaces that refuse to receive the COVID Permit. Therefore, the institution extends the call for solidarity between employers and workers.
ADVANTAGES OF THE COVID PERMIT
With the COVID Permit, the worker obtains his disability and, where appropriate, the corresponding payment in his bank account, easily, quickly and without the need to make transfers to collect the subsidy. Which helps avoid outings, crowds and comply with home protection.
The duration of this permit is seven days for beneficiaries with symptoms and five days for asymptomatic people who have a positive test. And it grants the worker who meets the requirements established in the Social Security Law an economic subsidy equivalent to 60 percent of his salary registered with the IMSS from the fourth day of disability.
The version of this Permit, compared to the previous version enabled by the Institute, has the characteristic that it is optional to attach the result of a positive test.
How did you apply for permission?
To request the COVID Permit, the worker must add their CURP, Social Security Number (NSS), Zip Code. And click on “Start” to answer the questionnaires about symptoms, vaccination and pre-existing conditions.
Subsequently, the system will ask you to enter additional information: contact telephone number and if you have proof of respiratory disease. Although this will not be a condition for the granting of the COVID Permit.
To complete the request, you must provide an email and the CLABE interbank account to receive the corresponding payment; When obtaining the COVID-19 Permit, you must notify your employer in order to justify the absence from your workplace.
It should be noted that by incorporating the SSN of the worker insured by Social Security, the performance of this application, which is exclusive for workers, was improved.
