- Some estimates affirm that there are 90,000 health workers who lack basification, both from the IMSS and from other institutions.
- In some cases, they have been without a fixed contract for more than a decade and with a fee-based labor scheme.
- All personnel regularization plans were canceled due to the pandemic and only in 2022 have they been resumed.
The working conditions of health professionals in our country leave much to be desired. This is a problem that has persisted for decades and although in some areas there are improvements, in others no changes are observed. For the same reason, one of the biggest complaints is achieving basification of all personnel and now the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) has already started with the first steps.
In this case, the authority announced the regularization of 300 new health workers from Tlaxcala. In this way, it seeks to offer a dignified treatment to those in charge of caring for patients.
Decent working conditions
In the auditorium of the Convention Center, the governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros and the general director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, made symbolic delivery of seven bases to workers of the entityformed by doctors, doctors and nursing staff with a seniority of up to 14 years.
In this regard, Zoé Robledo pointed out that the basification is an act of justice for the work of the personnel who helped in the care of COVID-19 and in the vaccination against this disease.
“If we call them and we called them heroes and heroines, well, that is what we are going to continue calling them forever, but as of today, heroes and heroines with labor justice and with a base in Social Security.”
The official also pointed out that they work as a team to meet the challenges and improve the infrastructure, carry out the works that are required and that there are no problems in the Health Centers or hospitals, guarantee the personnel the necessary supplies, healing material and medicines to that they can carry out their work.
He stated that the 300 workers who symbolically received a Nursing gown, cap or sweater“it has to do with something else, with being part of a family that also has a higher purpose, not only attending and doing what was done before, but also transforming the health system.”
For her part, Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros explained that this is the second of three stages of regularization. In the first 300 bases were awarded and in a future event 350 more will be givenwhich represents a historical fact for health workers who for more than 15 years they waited to obtain labor and economic stability.
“It fills me with emotion knowing that today you will return home with the certainty of transforming your life, we have trusted you because we know that you deserve this place, this base and today we want to ask you to also give part of your life, your love, your commitment to the citizens of Tlaxcala, which is for whom we are working today”.
Tlaxcala is the entity with the best health services
In this sense, Cuéllar Cisneros stressed that he will continue to work together with the Federation so that the entity occupies the first place at the national level in quality of health services.
He assured that having a position guarantees job stability, which further commits them to continue working and giving better professionally in the designated areas.
For her part, Dr. Karla Romero Cuahutencos, expressed that with the basification process “the uncertainty, fear, sadness and crying of not having job certainty ends.”
