During the celebration of his birthday on January 15, the actor Ignacio Lopez Tarso thanked for reaching that age and expressed his wish to celebrate a centenary.
He was born north of Mexico City and initially trained to be a priest. However, because he did not have a real vocation for religious life, López Tarso left the seminary and began a military career.
After trying other trades that would help improve his economic situation, in 1949 he entered the Academy of Dramatic Art of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA)). At the beginning of his acting career, Ignacio López López replaced his maternal surname with Tarso, in honor of the Apostle Saint Paul and with the aim of making his name more attractive. Very soon his successes would begin to add up and would make him one of the most renowned actors in Mexico, both in theater, film and television.
In an interview done by the newspaper Excelsior, the iconic protagonist of the film Macario express:
“I am totally at peace, very grateful for all these years of life, because I still really like living and I want, in two more years, to arrive and celebrate 100 years, in 2025. I want to continue working if I can keep myself as I am. I’m taking care of myself. I think well, I remember well, I have a good memory and stomach. My heart works without any problem until now; My lungs, my brain, my whole body is working fine.”
Ignacio López Tarso wants to return to the screens
Although he has a pension from Televisa, Ignacio López Tarso is not satisfied, because according to his own words, he wants to continue working on television or in the cinema. Regarding his recent work, he declared for Excelsior:
“I like to continue living and I will take advantage of all the opportunities that come, although they have been reduced to the point of not making movies, almost not making television. I just did a chapter of as the saying goeswith Sergio Corona, and I did one or two of Neighbors, a few months ago. That is what I have done, by offer of television, which has been very little ”
With enthusiasm, the actor also let it be known that for him age is just a number with which he does not identify. “I am very active mentally and physically, I can play any character my age,” he claims in the absence of calls to participate in television.
The actor’s vitality has been present during the pandemic, since he is currently active on social networks and has even ventured into virtual theater, staging different works, including a version of Macario.
