The camera CameraCubeChip Omnivision OVM6948 has set a record by becoming the smallest commercially available camera in the world. Its dimensions are astonishingly tiny, measuring 0.65mm x 0.65mm and standing just 1.158mm high.
This camera has been developed by Omnivision, a global technology company specializing in advanced digital, analog, touch and display imaging solutions for various applications in various industries. The CameraCubeChip is based on the OVM6948 sensor, which previously held the Guinness World Record as the world’s smallest commercial sensor.
Despite its tiny size, the CameraCubeChip OVM6948 offers a high resolution of 200 x 200 pixels or 40 KPixel in back illumination, resulting in high-quality images of highly sensitive areas of the human body.
Additionally, it is the only chip-on-top camera that features backlighting, which improves low-light performance and helps reduce the heat emitted by the LEDs.
Ideal for the health sector
In accordance with Oddity Central, The camera can be mounted on various medical instrumentsincluding disposable guides, endoscopes and catheters with diameters as small as 1.0 mm.
Its extremely small size makes it perfect for medical procedures within the narrowest blood vessels of the body, such as neurological, ophthalmological, otolaryngological, cardiac, spinal, urological, gynecological and arthroscopic procedures.
Due to its low power consumption, the sensor generates less heat at the tip of the endoscope, improving patient comfort and allowing for longer procedures.
This extremely small camera has a wide 120-degree field of view and a focusing range from 3mm to 30mm. It is capable of recording video at a speed of up to 30 frames per second and its analog output can transmit over 4 meters with minimal noise.
