The WRC2 class of the Ypres Rally will have a great incentive, beyond the fight for victory that exists within the silver category. Belgian asphalt sections will witness the Official debut of the Hyundai i20 N Rally2, the new proposal of the South Korean firm for its ‘careers-client’ program. The model that replaces the Hyundai i20 R5 will be driven by Oliver Solberg and Jari Huttunen within a WRC2 category that will also feature Teemu Suninen and Tom Kristensson, official M-Sport drivers, and Nikolay Gryazin. A duel to five that will serve to see the competitive level of Hyundai’s new ‘Rally2’.
Within Hyundai Motorsport, the debut of the new i20 N Rally2 comes at a key moment of the season. Oliver Solberg faces his third rally of the season in the WRC2 category, although it will be the first on asphalt. After his retirement in Estonia, the Swedish driver signed a good result in the debut of the new car. For its part, Jari Huttunen is ready to fight for victory too at the premiere of the Hyundai i20 N Rally2, as the Finnish driver has already shown his speed and talent with his recent victory in the category at the Rally Italia-Sardinia.
Oliver solberg has stated about the debut of the i20 N Rally2: «It has been a great honor to be part of the development of the Hyundai i20 N Rally2. Having the opportunity to drive this fantastic car for the first time in competition is very exciting. I am looking forward to showing what Hyundai Motorsport can achieve.. I have never competed in Belgium before. I have been able to do some tests there, I know it can be a difficult rally. If the weather is not stable and the road surface changes, it will be really difficult. Even if the rally is dry, it is not the best place to go for the first time».
