Although TikTok’s Text-to-Speech function was developed and launched by the Chinese social network with inclusion in mind, to “be more accessible to everyone”, the truth is that it is also very fun and its use is increasingly popular within the short video platform.
This feature, which allows the user to convert text to speech to use it in their content, is today an accessibility tool for people with vision or reading problems, for example, but also a way to make videos and play with the words that you can or can’t pronounce bot.
If you want to use it, we tell you how.
The first thing you should do is record your video. When finished, press the icon that indicates that it is ready. On the next screen, go to the bottom and you will find the Text option. Now, write what you want the voice to say for you and then press any other space on the screen.
The next step is to hold down the text you just typed for a few seconds and then find and select the Text-to-Speech option. Clever! Finally, press the Next button, choose video options and click Publish.
TikTok’s Text-to-Speech feature has changed since its launch in late 2020, as the actor who voiced the bot’s original voice filed a lawsuit saying he had never agreed to appear on the app. The new voice is a bit more dynamic and has been just as popular.
