Every August 30th is celebrated the day of Santa Rosa de Lima in Peru and it is proven that it is one of the most religious moments of the year. One of the most important attractions is to go to the Wishing Well and leave a letter with a request. These missives are thrown into the well, in many cases after standing in long lines that can take hours, but which have become a tradition among Peruvians. Many of the faithful were uncertain as they did not know how they could send their requests to the first Saint of America, for this reason the possibility of doing so virtually was implemented.

What about the cards from the wishing well?
People usually throw their letters to make wishes, in order to be illuminated by Santa Rosa de Lima. However, there are various speculations that, from time to time, these cards are removed to prevent the pot from being full. It is also presumed that someone comes down to recycle or throw them away.
Other news also indicates that the letters have not been removed from the bottom of the well. It seems difficult to believe, but the news has been gaining more force since the depth of the well is something that does not have an exact calculation. Also, the conditions of this are not the best.
How is the day of Santa Rosa de Lima celebrated?
Citizens have an immovable tradition in different parts of Lima and even come from abroad, the purpose is to go to the temple of Santa Rosa de Lima, located on Tacna avenue. With masses and some tours the homage begins. The wishing well is one of the most touristic spots, where the faithful write letters and throw them as part of their requests.
On August 30, regardless of the day that coincides with this date, the image of Santa Rosa de Lima goes in procession, which is carried by members of the National Police and its brotherhood of porters through the Plaza Mayor of Lima and by other downtown streets.
Other people prefer to go a little further from the capital and visit Santa Rosa de Quives, in the province of Canta. In that place is the sanctuary dedicated to the patron saint of Lima, who lived in those lands between 1596 and 1604.
