The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes is the latest installment in this saga of horror graphic adventures, and as always, saving all the characters and getting the best ending or “good ending” can be a real headache if you don’t really know where to go.
We find ourselves with the most “iron” delivery when it comes to bugs, and that is that we can start losing characters in the blink of an eye if we do not play carefully. Here you will find all the important decisions written down, so that at the end of the adventure all your protagonists live to witness another sunrise.
How to get the best ending (or good ending) of the Dark Pictures House of Ashes: this way you can save all the characters
Here you will not find a complete guide exactly, but we will tell you in what key points You must perform certain actions to save the lives of your characters. Keep in mind that, except when we tell you otherwise, it is best not fail Quick Time Events (QTE):
- When you are at the base before the mission, you must choose to have air support. In this way, when you make the call for help by radio, air support will help you in your darkest hour.
- During the shooting at the farm, DON’T shoot the farmer. If you do, Salim won’t shoot Jason and they’ll become friends throughout the story.
- Merwin inevitably dies, but he must not do so too soon. QTE fails with nick while Jason injects him with morphineWell, if you don’t, you will drown it. When you fail the morphine will take effect, and when the time comes he will fix the radio to call in air support.
- While fleeing from Iraqi General Dar, Rachel and Eric will have a scene in which they both come close to falling off the rock. The correct decision is cut the rope and let Rachel fall, because she will not die and thus both will be saved. If you don’t cut the rope, a rock will impale Eric. Remember be nice to rachel during the story so that their relationship is good.
- When Eric, Jason, and Nick are investigating the caves, enter the optional dark room you see in the image below to take the medical kit that Joey left behind. If you do, you can heal Salim when the time comes.
- Although leaving someone behind is not pleasant, Clarice it is infected and can kill someone if you are not careful. When Clarice asks what she looks like, tell her the truth: she looks bad. Throw him the rope, and when he asks you if he better stay, say goodbye to her. If you don’t, he could kill Eric.
- When you get to well of the catacombs seen in the early part of the game (During the attack over a thousand years ago) with Jason and Nick, inspect the skeleton of the woman to the right of the entrance to get hold of the stake so you can defend yourself from Joey’s attack.
- Do you remember setting some explosives in a hallway with Jason and Nick? It is VERY IMPORTANT that you remember where you have placed them (in the center or on the sides), because during the flight of the creatures you must advise Eric and Rachel of the route to choose (the route where you did not place the explosives, go).
- During the assault, you will have to be fine with the QTEs or someone will die. Also, Rachel must help Eric, Salim must shoot the monster that attacks Rachel and Nick has to use the crucifix instead of the rifle.
- If things have gone as they should, Jason and Salim they should be colleagues. While you escape, Salim will radio for help, and Jason must return to help him. Don’t fail the QTE and both will save each other.
- On the part of the nestDon’t use the knife on the white match with Rachel. Select the two desperate conversation options and complete QTEs with Jason while setting the explosives. With Salim, don’t be cautious: go rough. Finally, complete the QTE when Clarice appears to save Rachel and Eric.
- After go outside, the thing has no mystery: do not mess with the QTE (you will probably have to restart a couple of times because it is hell) and you will have overcome the game.
To the end of the game, and with the good ending, you should have the following characters alive: Salim, Eric, Rachel, Jason and Nick. The rest are going to die yes or yes, so don’t torture yourself too much about it.
