For many Twitch users and content generators, this Wednesday morning was not at all friendly.
And it is that from the first hours of the day it was announced that Amazon’s streaming video game platform would have suffered a data leak.
What in principle was speculation, ended up being confirmed a few hours ago by the service itself, which claimed to have been a victim of the aforementioned leak and who so far has not been able to give concrete data on the true scope of the leak.
For now, it is known that the violation of Twitch security codes includes the source code of the service, information about a new Amazon Game Studio project that intends to compete with Steam and details about the payments that some well-known streamers receive.
Although so far this initial leak does not seem to include passwords, addresses or personal information of users, the truth is that this 125 GB torrent has been labeled as “Part One” so it is possible that in the next few hours a next installment that may contain additional information.
How to remove Twitch?
As expected, this situation has had an immediate effect on the way in which the streaming platform is viewed by users and many of them, given the little information they have about the case, have simply decided to find a way to eliminate your account.
At the very least, you can see a short report by N. Rich, which indicates that Google searches for “How to remove Twitch” have increased eightfold as news of the hack gained relevance on social media.
Steps to follow
If you are one of this handful of users who have decided to leave the platform at least temporarily, we share these simple steps to deactivate your account in a simple way:
- Open the account you want to unsubscribe from the service and click on the profile image.
- From there go to the option “Setting”
- Scroll until you reach the last part of the screen and locate the following section:
- Click the button “Deactivate account”. A new panel will open in which you must confirm that the indicated account is the one you want to deactivate.
- Once the data has been verified and, if you wish, after having given a reason for the deactivation of your account, select the button “Deactivate account”.
- From this moment, the account will be paused. If you want to re-enable the account, just log in to Twitch from its web version with the details of the disabled account. A new sale will open in which it will ask if you want to reactivate the account. With a click of the button “Reactivate»Will be enough to return to duty.
