At Unocero we have said on different occasions how important it is to take care of the battery of smartphones. Although manufacturers have developed new technologies to reduce battery wear while charging the phone, it is best to always charge the phone between 20 and 80% of the battery capacity.
The above is supported by various studies, in fact, ASUS shared a report where it revealed that a smartphone with 500 charge cycles that always stops when reaching 100% loses 15% of its battery capacity after this amount of cycles, while stopping the load at 80% only loses 7% of its capacity with the same number of cycles.
For that reason we teach you how to make your phone notify you when it is fully charged, or when it has reached 80% battery and it is time to disconnect it. This also applies the other way around, that is, if you want it to “talk” to you when you are about to reach 20% battery capacity.
It is important to mention that it works for both Android and iOS, although in Apple’s operating system it works better and is a bit faster to configure.
How to do it on iOS?
Those with iOS 14 should do the following:
- Go to the Shortcuts app.
- Select the “Automation” tab.
- Click on the + sign or in the “Personal Automation” part.
- Scroll down to the “Battery Level” option.
- Select the first option and choose the battery percentage where you would like your phone to notify you to disconnect it. I recommend 80%, but you can put whatever you want.
- Press next and then choose “Add action.”
- In the search bar write “Read text with voice”, and in “Text” write the phrase that Siri should say when your phone is charged.
- Select next and uncheck the box “Ask when executing ·.
- Give it a go and the automation will be saved.
How to do it on Android?
If you have an Android phone, you should know that at the moment there is no native option to execute this option, but there is an application that allows you to do it.
You must download the app ”Automate”, it is free but it is only in English. The advantage is that you do not need an advanced level of English to be able to configure the automation.
- Once you have downloaded the application, click on the + sign to create an automation.
- Look for the option “Battery & power” and choose “Battery level?”.
- Now go to the section “When battery level” and in the line of “Minimum level” write 80% or the battery percentage in which you want to receive the warning.
- Save the configuration and press the + sign again but now select the option “Camera & Sound” and then click on “Speak”.
- In the “Input arguments” section, write what the phone should say, for example “Now disconnect me.”
- Scroll down to “Language” and select “Spanish.” In the next option, “Engine”, select “Google Voice Services”.
- Save your settings.
- Finally, you must match each part of the automation between the words “Go” and “In”. It should be as follows:
- Press “Star” to run the automation.
There is something very important that you should know; The application will not work if the phone is locked, so if you do not want to have a problem deactivate the screen lock, this regardless of not optimizing the energy consumption of the app in the background.
