The pandemic due to the new Covid-19 coronavirus represents an unprecedented situation and has changed our rhythm of life to extraordinary levels. In Mexico, some people have already spent more than 40 days in isolation.
Some more have served a few days in the auto-confinement because their financial situation does not allow them to stop. But it is a fact that much of the population will experience stress and anxiety at some point, which can be confused with boredom.
Limited mobility abroad could affect the mental state of some people, mainly in terms of emotions.
EMOTIONS ARE THE PRODUCT OF THE PERSONAL AND COLLECTIVE MEANING THAT WE GIVE TO THE EVENTS AND CONDITIONS OF OUR LIFE.
In other words, our state of mental health is largely determined by the way in which we live and transfer those emotions with and for social groups; friends, family, coworkers… and even the one you dislike in the gym.
In addition to reducing these emotions, the news about the pandemic generates negative emotions that, by keeping them constant and prolonged, can cause damage to physical and mental health.
THESE NEGATIVE EMOTIONS ALTER OUR ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT IN WHICH WE LIVE, AS WELL AS THE POSSIBILITY OF ACCEPTING CHANGES AND MAKING ADJUSTMENTS IN OUR DAILY LIFE.
The human being uses different strategies to regulate these emotions, among the main ones is cognitive change, a reevaluation of the situation to alter the emotional meaning of the event.
