Yesterday, numerous users of the Windows Insider Dev and Beta Channels reported Taskbar and Start Menu issues in Windows 11. In many cases, these shell elements did not even load directly.
How to bring back the Windows 11 taskbar and Start Menu
Apparently, it is a problem that is entirely on Microsoft’s side and that has been introduced via server. To be able to fix it, those of Redmond recommend that we take the following steps:
- Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open the Task Manager.
- Choose “More details” at the bottom to expand the Task Manager.
- Go to “File” and choose “Run New Task”.
- Type “cmd” in the “Open” text field.
- Paste the following text: reg delete HKCU SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion IrisService / f && shutdown -r -t 0
- Press ENTER and your PC should restart. After the reboot, everything should be back to normal.
This error has been experienced by both users of the Dev Channel (who yesterday received the Build 22449) and Beta Channel (Build 22000.176). Let us know if you have been affected and if this solution has worked for you.
