Facebook Messenger has reached 900 million active monthly users and this makes it one of the most popular messaging apps of the moment. The app that you always have to install if you want to access communication with your friends and family from your mobile and that has used the same to become so popular. Its main virtue is to be the bridge between the desktop version and the mobile version so that you can access all those messages that arrive to you daily.
This brings us to a particular situation, and that is that Facebook does not always notify us about all the messages they send us. You already know that Facebook sends emails or notifications when someone you are not in contact with tries to send you a message, which happens that sometimes, for whatever reason, we are unaware of the existence of this message and it can be totally forgotten. So it comes in handy that from time to time we go through certain application settings to see if we have any lost messages. It is as if we were looking at the Spam folder where we sometimes receive important emails from contacts that we do not want to lose. Next, you will find a way to find those lost messages from the Facebook Messenger app on your mobile device.
Before going to the steps themselves, remember that this process works for both Android and iOS. A way to be able to retrieve those messages from a certain friend that you met again on the street a few weeks ago and that in the end you came to the conclusion that he did not finally add you to Facebook, to discover with surprise, through the steps that I am going to comment, that is there waiting for you to respond.
It is not that we are going to go through complicated adjustments, but they are very easy, but sometimes among so many parameters it is easier for one to get lost:
- Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your smartphone
- We look for the “settings” button at the top of the screen
- Click on the button «People»
- The next step is to click on the option «Request messages»
- Finally, we click on the option «See filtered requests» that is shown in the blue text
- Now you will see all those unread messages that you did not know you had in color. Most of them may be “junk” but some tend to find important messages that can be finally recovered.
You can click on each of them to be able to answer them, even if a little time has passed. A very important option and that from time to time it is good to go through it to find one of those messages that seem to come bottled with a sheet of paper and have suddenly arrived at our beach.
Also, from the “Message requests” screen, you have the option from the icon with three vertical dots located at the top right to select several, ignore all, or eliminate them in one piece if you need it.
As for Facebook, the reason for keeping these messages hidden is that it tries not to ‘fill’ inboxes with what they call ‘junk’, and it does succeed, but as can happen with the Spam folder in Gmail, sometimes you can find messages from contacts that are important. That said, the system is not perfect and there are sometimes false positives, so, as I said, it is advisable to stop by this secluded place on Facebook Messenger from time to time to retrieve one.
You can share your experience in case Facebook has taken to that space a message that you would have liked to know and thus know if it really works. From my experience, most of it tends to be spam, so it does work properly. At least for now.
