Since Facebook Messenger launched floating chat heads on Android, we have seen a good repertoire of apps that have taken this idea to perform all kinds of actions, such as Chris Lacy’s web browser known as Link Bubble. You know, that chat bubble that suddenly appears on the desktop of the phone with the image of contact and that allows us to start the conversation directly with him. Of great help for many circumstances and for others maybe not so much, and the best of all is that we can deactivate it as it happens with many of the features in Android.
Chat heads or chat bubbles are already activated by default on Android, and as it can always happen, not everyone may like them, so below I show the steps to take to deactivate them. This way you can remove those bubbles of images of friends that can be so annoying at some point.
Disabling chat heads on Facebook Messenger
We always have the option of eliminating it with a simple swipe to one of the sides of the screen, although they will always appear again when someone starts a new conversation or we receive another message from the same contact.
- The first thing we have to do is open Facebook Messenger itself.
- From the list of messages with contacts, click on the settings icon at the top.
- Now we look for the option “Chat bubbles” among the different parameters.
- Now we will have the option to deactivate the chat bubbles with the blue button at the top. Click to deactivate them.
- When the chat heads or chat bubbles are deactivated the two options will be shaded.
This tutorial has been made with Android version 5.0.2 so the interface on your Facebook Messenger may change a bit, although everything should be there without having major problems that prevent us from deactivating those chat bubbles or chat heads.
Another of the customizations that Android allows us to remove is some functionality that can be more of a nuisance than anything else. Not all of us agree to have a phone with great hardware and these bubbles can detract some performance.
