Stopping updates in WordPress
When we talk about updates to WordPress, many times we can be talking about big changes in the way the platform is managed, or simply an update that leaves behind the use of our plugins and our current theme.
This can become a big problem when we talk about the overall experience of our page. But, many times it is better to change the plugins or update them before or after WordPress, it’s all up to you, but keep in mind that it is not very safe to leave your WordPress without updates.
Whatever you choose, there is no way to stop updates within the platform per se. But, if there is a way to stop them. This is done through the archive codes of your page. You can do this by accessing the wp-config.php extension. Once there, you can enter the following codes.
In order to deactivate any automatic update that WordPress may have, you must enter the following:
- define (‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, false);
- On the other hand, if you want to completely disable all automatic updates, including that of your plugins, you must enter the following code: define (‘AUTOMATIC_UPDATER_DISABLED’, true);
Using plugins
If you are a little afraid to touch the code of your website, which is totally understandable, it is good that you use a plugin to control the updates of your portal. Probably the best option for this is AdvancedAutomaticUpdates.
Through this plugin you will be able to deactivate the updates to the level that you want the most, whether they are only small and security updates or including large ones as well. So you can know what goes in and what does not in your site updates.
