Being able to communicate with whoever you want is one of the great advantages that new technology and the internet have brought to anyone in the world. With many of the mobile devices, we can communicate in different ways with a person without having to pay extra with people who are abroad.
Also, one of the biggest successes of new ways of communicating came in the form of email providers, a great way to send text and content messages to anyone with an email account.
At the time of its creation, it had a great impact because you did not have to send messages only if the other person was also connected, but it works through a method where the mail or email is stored in a cloud and then send.
Certainly, emails come with certain usage limitations, such as the limit of the files that can be attached to an email in terms of space. But, this hasn’t stopped emails from being used to send formal, professional messages and much more.
But when you use email a lot, you are likely to find yourself in the heavy scenario where you end up with many contacts or contact duplicates, as can happen in Outlook when you inherit one account or receive a lot of contacts from another person.
When this happens we can have total chaos in terms of how we can handle and manage our contacts, and that is why we will talk a little about how you can solve this annoying problem with contacts in Outlook.
Deleting duplicate contacts one by one
As such, there are two main ways through which you can delete and take care of those duplicate contacts that you have in your Outlook.
We will do this through the desktop Outlook, which you can access with Microsoft 365 or the Office suite, and the first one is quite simple but it will be more difficult to do if you have too many contacts.
To delete each contact that you have duplicated in Outlook, you must enter Outlook and then click on the “People” icon that you have at the bottom of the screen.
Now, at the top of the screen, where it says “Current View”, you have to go to the “Phone” section and click on it.
Now, while holding down the Ctrl key, select each contact that you have duplicated and then press the Delete key to delete all or you can also press Ctrl + d.
Eliminating large amounts of contact
On the other hand, if you have large amounts of contacts, you can export and import them to be able to delete them in one go. To do this, go to the “People” menu in Outlook, and then in the panel on the left, right-click and create a new contacts folder to give it a name.
Go back to the folder where you have all the contacts, select them all with Ctrl + A and drag them to the new folder. Then, click on the top menu of “File” and then enter “Open and export” and then “Import and Export”.
Now, click on ” Export to a file ” and select the option of “(Windows) colors separated by commas” to proceed to select the folder where you put all the contacts. Now, select a path where you can easily find the file and click finish.
Next, go back into the “Open and Export ” menu and go into “Import or export”, select the “Import from another program or file”, select the file you exported and import it, and then select the option “Do not import duplicate items”.
