To apply a default gradient, both in the fill and in the stroke, you must make a clip in the properties panel. And you can choose a gradient swatch that is saved. Or you can click on the gradient options so you can open it in the Gradient panel.
In this panel, you can choose the fill color of your preference, if you want to edit it, by double-clicking on the color levels curve you can do it. If you go to the Tools panel, you can activate the Gradient tool. On any image with fill you can change the direction, duration and length of the gradient.
Another option that can help you a lot is the Recolor button found in the properties panel. When you open it, you can choose the Edit option to see the colors on a color wheel. Or you can use the Link Harmonies button so you can edit all the colors at once, when you are done click on the Ok option.
