The foods you eat influence your body odor. But not only that, recent research has revealed that there is a particular fragrance that is extremely attractive both for men, and of course, also for women.
A study from Macquarie University in Australia concluded that both sexes prefer body odor for men seeking a diet rich in vegetables and fruits.
During the research, the scientists recruited a sample of healthy men between the ages of 25 and 40. For one week, one group ate double rations of fruits and vegetables compared to the rest, and they also significantly reduced their meat consumption.
After the lapse of the diet ended, the subjects were asked to wear a white shirt and perform exercises that caused sweating. Then the scientists looked for the presence of carotenoids (organic pygmies that remain in the body with the consumption of vegetables and fruits) in the study participants and their clothes. To carry out these studies, the scientists used a spectrophotometer, a device that emits a specific light with the presence of carotenoids.
Then a group of women were asked to smell and describe the sweatshirts in detail. The result was surprising: those with the best odor and who even obtained the description of “citric” or “floral” were those with the highest amount of carotenoids in the body. That is, those who had prioritized the consumption of fruits and vegetables.
This research could also be applied to us, since it has been scientifically proven that the type of food we eat significantly influences our body odor regardless of our sex.
Foods you should eat to have a more pleasant body fragrance are carrots, squash, Swiss chard, mangoes, tomatoes, dried apricots, spinach, papaya, and red berries, to name a few.
