This weekend the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase took place as part of the announcement season for the video game industry, and the first game we saw at the event was red fallArkane Austin. This new FPS can be enjoyed alone or accompanied in co-op mode, and its developers have already explained how the progression of the story works.
In Redfall you must cleanse the town of an infestation of vampires and to do so the best thing is to make a team of up to 4 players to take advantage of the abilities of the different characters. According to Arkane Austin, when the game is played co-op mode story progress will be tied to the host of the session.

Redfall is an open world game in the first person, in which we will have to explore the town of Redfall to end the legion of vampires that now call it home. Because of this, each player will progress through the story differently depending on which routes they take. Additionally, story progress during co-op mode will be tied to the host only.
If you join a co-op game and they pass a mission you haven’t played yet, you’ll need to replay this mission later for the story to progress in your game. However, Arkane Austin confirmed that character progress will carry over, so you’ll be able to level up and unlock abilities while playing with friends.
Redfall creative director Harvey Smith said they considered sharing progress so you could skip missions you’ve played in co-op sessions, but ended up deciding against this, feeling that doing so would make the story too confusing.
