The use of the Debit has become increasingly popular in recent years, thanks to the bank modernization that allows you to easily request it from your mobile phone. Despite this, there are still common questions, such as: What is the maximum period to leave a Debit no credit?
In Mexico, it is estimated that there are around 155,623.75 debit cards in circulation, according to information from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), used by Mexicans to pay for goods and services or as a savings alternative. However, a certain amount of these remain inactive due to lack of activity. This raises the question about the time limit you have to leave the card without funds
In general terms, the maximum term to leave a card without a balance is three months. After this period, the bank can inactivate the account due to lack of activity, regardless of the funds accumulated in it.
For example, it is possible that you have an account with a balance of one peso or even more than 200 thousand pesos. However, if there is no movement in the form of payment, transfer or withdrawal for at least 90 days, the account will become inactive. In the worst case, the bank may apply fees for lack of activity, which will be deducted from the existing balance. In this situation, it is advisable to review your debit cards and, if they are not active, contact the financial institution to use the “frozen” funds you have.
In the end, it is advisable to cancel the debit cards that you do not use to avoid a negative balance, which will help you improve the management of your resources in your day to day.
