How does a metal detector work? We share the latest solution in metal detection technology, a bow that can distinguish between keys and a forbidden object, to sound your alarm.
A metal detector is a handheld device or a bow to which people are exposed or go through, as the case may be; and they serve as a security filter, in order to detect unauthorized metal objects.
What happens to pacemakers, plates, and pregnant women when they go through a metal detector?
The first thing you should know is that not all metal detectors are the same. To begin with, we can distinguish between handheld detectors that someone will approach and pass around your body looking for forbidden metal, and arches or doors that you only need to pass through.
You’ve probably gone through a metal detector arc and sounded the characteristic beep beep beep, and you’ve wondered why they don’t stop you or you may wonder if metal detectors pose a risk for people who have a metal plate, fillings, a pacemaker, or are pregnant.

We spoke with the experts of Dahua Technology, to solve all these doubts as a result of its most recent launch in walk-through metal detection solutions: the ISC-D218 bowi.e. metal detector arches.
Did you know that some bows have the ability to distinguish objects such as keys or buckles so as not to activate the alarm? Dahua Technology announces the launch of the ISC-D218 solution, a high-performance, high-sensitivity arch (door) designed with lightweight materials for easy transportation and installation.

The device is an arc, it has an anti-interference system that makes it extremely reliable, which adopts an electromagnetic field to detect metal objects through 6, 18 and up to 33 detection zones.
The ISC-D218 bow from Dahua Technology can distinguish between an everyday object such as keys and buckles and a prohibited target because in the detection zones the sensitivity can be adjusted in order to adapt to the specific needs of each scenario and does not represent a risk for pregnant women or people with pacemakers and metal plates.
How Dahua Technology ISC-D218 Metal Detector Arc Works
We spoke in an interview with Rubén Castillo, SMB Solutions Manager at Dua Technology, who shared that the bow ISC-D218 from Dahua Technology is a solution that has a detection capacity of 60 to 100 people per minute, filtering metallic objects by weight, volume, size and metallic parts.
The system can distinguish keys, jewelry, buckles and other items that should not trigger an alarm. To ensure greater safety for users, the device uses a weak magnetic field and is certified to meet electromagnetic radiation standards to ensure that it is harmless to pregnant women and does not interfere with cardiac pacemakers.
The metal detector ISC-D218 comes pre-configured for 72 application scenarios. Which can be used regularly in projects of train stations, subway stations, logistics, important events, casinos, judicial system, government offices, schools, bus stations and airports. Which provides great flexibility to meet the needs of various companies globally.
Ruben Castillo explains that the ISC-D218 arch integrates a camera to add image to the platform and a remote control to easily configure the arch without having to approach it.
What’s more, Dahua Technology’s new metal detector has multiple on / off modes to increase its duration. You can configure and customize the light, as well as the duration and volume of the alarm system to save battery life.
With these devices, Dahua Technology continues to provide solutions that allow creating a safer society and a smarter life.
