Negative or positive experiences have an influence on the personality, development, behavior and thoughts of the human being. In fact, whether we like it or not, situations that cause happiness or overwhelm have direct consequences on the well-being and physical and mental health of the individual; in the different stages of life.
However, the quality of the relationship with parents or caregivers; together with the environment in which one lives, the opportunities to access health, education and food; they become factors that influence the personal development and quality of life of the child.
In the same way, in contrast, when an infant lives in an adverse environment, coupled with abandonment events; violence; lack and limiting needs; a path full of mental imbalance, personal imbalances and social problems of the young and the adult is marked.
Childhood experiences are the foundation for future development
In reality, the human being learns by repetition. Therefore, what he sees in his family, social and cultural environment is what he assimilates as his own. Likewise, when adverse childhood experiences are presented; homes with domestic violence, psychoactive abuse, parental separation, or neglect; they become circumstances that can lead to define an adult life of misfortune, dragging future generations.
After all, the amount of information we store in our subconscious memory affects our ability to choose; mental development; the discipline; attachment; self-esteem and the way we relate. Likewise, a child faced with high-impact incidents has a greater risk of reaching youth and adulthood with serious behavioral and psychosomatic problems.
Since, corrective measures must be established and psychological help must be sought at an early age. Above all, because it is likely to fall into wrong behaviors; such as alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse. In addition, in the same way, the predisposition to develop organic pathologies, such as obesity and heart disease, is increased; at the same time, to face mental disorders, ranging from depression to suicide attempts.
Can anything be done?
As we can see, the hostility of the environment, work at an early age and psychological or physical violence, among other factors; they affect the personality and values of the individual. This is how people who have lived in vulnerable situations as children are more likely to have unwanted pregnancies; intimidating relationships and being more exposed to the consumption of narcotics, alcohol and tobacco.
Therefore, the well-being of children, education, access to food, good health and quality of life, are responsibilities of the government, the family and society. Above all, because state entities must lead programs that benefit the community, with accessible employment, education and health services. Mainly, because in this way, new opportunities are being given to the nascent generations.
Similarly, the work of psychologists, educators and therapists, in conjunction with families; to highlight the situations of concern that affect the infant. They help to establish patterns of behavior and associated treatments that favor the child and their environment, in order to allow healthy growth.
In conclusion, we can point out that the parents’ task should be focused on the well-being of the infant. However, for this the parents must be stable and balanced people. This means that adults must work to heal wounds, be resilient and focus on living better; because the future of our children depends on that.
