Hotel occupancy in Mexico increased to 60.2% during the first seven months of the yearThe Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, reported this Sunday.

According to data obtained by the DataTur platform in 70 different tourist centers in the country, Between last January and July, 50.4 million tourists arrived in the country.
Of these, 36.9 million were national tourists, while 13.5 million were foreigners, that is, proportions of 73.1% and 26.9%, respectively.
The Secretary of Tourism explained that the cities registered 27.1 million tourists in hotel rooms.
While beach centers received 23.3 million tourists during the first seven months of 2023.

For its part, He specified that the occupancy level of just the beach centers in the Mexican territory was 69.2% in this period.
This result is 2.5 percentage points more than in the same period of 2022, when 66.7% occupancy was recorded.
For city destinations, the occupancy percentage was 52.2% in these first seven months.
This fact meant an increase of 6.2 percentage points compared to what was reported in 2022, when it reached 45.9%.
Torruco pointed out that, in this January-July period, the tourist centers with the highest occupancy were: Akumal (85.1%); Playa del Carmen (84.1%); Cabo San Lucas, (81.2%); New Nayarit, (78.4%); Cancún (76.4%) and Puerto Vallarta, (76.3%).
In these same seven months, he added, the number of average occupied rooms rose to a level of 261,446 units throughout the Mexican territory, that is, 11.5% more compared to the same period of the previous year.
In beach centers, 142,489 average occupied rooms were registered and 118,958 in city destinations.
The head of Sectur also indicated that, in the accumulated January-July 2023, a level of 434,020 available units was reached, which represented an increase of 1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
